Odd. I never received Michael's email. I know he is quite active so
perhaps my spam filters made a mistake ;-)

Correct. And with kids in the family they are very active on the SD
channels.

Also per the original message, I have only two HD-PVRs which have access
to all channels. So input preference will make no difference.

Even more so, it only deals with immediate conflicts. That is if an HD
and SD program is showing simultaneously it will do the right thing. But
if the SD version of a program occurs in the schedule before the HD
version then the SD version gets recorded.

The only other way I could see was to create a custom rule to select
only HD. But it is not terribly family friendly.

In four or five years it is not likely to be as big an issue but at the
moment it forces me to record with "any time on this channel" where as I
would have preferred "any time on any channel".... or any time on any HD
channel!
