I was mildly mocking your pretensions; clearly, I touched a nerve.

You showed up asking about a slow EPG; a perfectly ordinary
question. However, you then proceeded to write as if it's unusual for
MythTV users to have 13 days' worth of schedule info ("Perhaps most
people don't use such abundant sources or don't see so many days ahead
(I have 13 days)"), or if 66 channels are a lot to have, and implying
that *that's* why no one else experienced this problem of yours. ("I'm
a programmer myself - if there are any suggestions
w.r.t. optimizations or code changes, I'm volunteering to do it and
test it.") Do you really think that an EPG as slow as you describe
with your Core 2 Duo box because of the (stupendous, ginormous,
colossal) amount of data for 66 channels * 13 days would've not ever
been discussed on on this list?

Anyone who's read mythtv-users for more than a few days would've
realized that 13 days and 66 channels on a MythTV box are not unusual
in any way. Anyone who searched the list archives with the words "slow
epg" would've realized that your issue was thus probably not, in fact,
related to the amount of guide data or number of channels. I may not
have written a custom guide-data scraper (which, based on your
description, breaks the Terms of Service of those "regular
human-readable TV sites"; again, see the archives) like you, but I
could've figured this fact out on my own.

This, I agree, was not fair to you. As stated I personally don't use
the EPG often, but I shouldn't have attributed my usage patterns to
you or your family.
