Finally got my new machine built which is also being a MythTV frontend so time to see what it can do.

I'm very interested in the inverse telecine feature of vdpau which I saw is implemented in MythTV through the vdpauivtc flag. I'm expecting that for 1080i50 (actually 1080i25Psf) that I won't see any benefit over a regular Advanced 2x de-interlace or probably over any of the simpler de-interlacers either. What I'm really hoping that when I feed it 1080i60 that is originally 1080p24 material with 3:2 pulldown (lots of high end drama and most TV films broadcast in the US) that the inverse telecine function will return this to a 1080p24 (1080p23.97) stream. If I run my display at 24p I should get smooth motion, yes??

Have I got the wrong end of the stick, wrong stick even? Is there something more I need to do beyond sticking vdpauivtc in the custom filters: field and making sure my display can accept 1080p24 which it can and regularly does?

With 1080i25psf material should the display change to 25hz rather than 50hz? Not that it really matters.

Even if this stuff isn't fully implemented yet I'm willing to do some testing now I have a frontend I can mess with that won't break my system.

I'm running 0.22.0-fixes23562-0ubuntu2 on 64 bit Ubuntu 9.10 with a 1GB GT220.

 Andre
