There are times when it seems the creator does not want you to know
what is being said in the foreign language. I am thinking of The Wire,
where when I watch the dvd rip i watch with subtitles as I can't
understand what a lot of the characters (particularly the drug
dealers) are saying. There are subs for all the english talking, but
when some of the characters are talking russian or greek [1], there
are no subs. I guess we just aren't supposed to know what they are
saying, and it's part of the drama that we english speakers don't know
what the foreigners are saying.

[1] yeah I am currently on series 2 :) Great show.
