[mythtv-users] OT Keyboard mapping

I have a usb RF keyboard that came with a remote control that uses the
same USB interface. The remote has a button on it I would like to use as
Exit. The problem is it sends the equivilent of a keyboard delete (code
14 with showkeys) when pressed and of course myth is looking for escape
(code 1 with showkeys).

I have read that the keyboard can be remapped but am having trouble
finding meaningful howto's or documentation to do this in X, KDE or
gnome (I got it to remap at the shell with us.map.gz, but after X starts
it seems to go back to the old mapping). 

So my request is, anyone know how to get keyboard scabcode 14  to return
an Escape or how to get myth to recognize the delete key as exit?
