Gabe, when I've discussed this issue with our cable company, I have
been told that it passes through all stations unchanged and that the
5C flagging is done by the source. The PBS-flagging issue is one
others have reported in other cities, too.

I agree with you that the flagging is done very arbitrarily. In
addition to PBS and CBS, the CW affiliate is also flagged, but both it
and CBS were unflagged as late as last year; CBS was flagged on and
off before then. A&E HD was flagged for a long time but hasn't been
for the past six months or so. PBS was unflagged until perhaps 18
months ago? Etc., etc. But like you, as long as the premium-movie HD
channels and others aren't flagged, I'm happy, especially since I can
get all currently-flagged channels via over-the-air anyway.
