It does exactly what you think it does, but only in Windows, where
there is a protected video path and support for HDCP. There is no OS
or player support for HDCP in Linux. There is no way play encrypted
content in Linux. So if something is encrypted and requires a HDCP
path for playback then you simply wouldn't be able to play back at all
in Linux. If it is unencrypted then there is no HDCP.
