I have some fiber rods that work great too..  Fry's sells a whole
wiring kit (with a magnetic attachment tip),  called a fiber-fish..
Has served me well..

you DEFINITELY want to do this.  I cannot tell you how many times I
have had to take an "in service" wire, connect a string and pull it
back up the wall to pull more back down.
