[mythtv-users] lirc_zilog in production

It seems more people are using lirc_zilog (and lirc_dev) with their
HD-PVRs. Is lirc_zilog "ready for primetime"? A while back, I remember reading that it
made the HD-PVR less stable for recording due to the polling of the IR device.
I have one HD-PVR that would be nice to use both as an IR receiver and transmitter.
Nice, but not necessary if it would interfere with HD-PVR recordings.

If the answer is yes it's stable, does stable usage require the current firmware? I've still
got mine on that first firmware that enabled 5.1 via SPDIF (since it's sort of a pain
to get it hooked to Windows).

Thanks in advance
james
