I have a PVR150 that encodes MPEG2 and use my PS3 to view videos without an issue.  The 'picky' problems that I've seen have to do more with music and the encoding quality that you select with your MP3s.  I've had issues with this in the past, with prior versions of myth.  Ripping CDs using a lower mp3 standard cured this problem.

I'm not sure if this workaround will work with the latest version of myth and PS3 firmware, since I wiped out my music collection and haven't had time to try and re-rip CDs.
