[mythtv-users] query mythbackend for recording status via http?

I remember a while back seeing that there was a way to query either
the backend or mythweb as to the current recording status via a http
command or something similar to be able to use in scripts and such.

Can someone who remembers what this is point me in the right
direction. my words are failing to find what I'm looking for in my
searches.
