The sound rework isn't in 0.23 but in trunk.


I will force a recompile of the plugins as it seems the API version
has been changed.

If as your post suggested, you are running a combination of trunk and
0.23 it just won't work.
You have to run either 0.23-fixes or 0.24-trunk, not both... If you
upgrade to trunk, you'll likely have to follow trunk from now on until
it becomes 0.24

Having to mute/unmute is an issue with alsa and the drivers. Nothing
much we can do in myth.
