Don't restore at this stage. The most likely scenario is that one or
more tables are "crashed" within the database, and they can be
easily repaired. Check out the wiki.

He said he already ran optimize_mythdb.pl which does a repair of the tables.
Plus it sounds like he doesn't have a backup to restore.
Anyway, if he wants to be safe.
Change the user/pass if needed and run this: mysqlcheck --auto-repair
--check -u mythtv -pmythtv mythconverg
