I use and can recommend the Streamzap remote and receiver.  Lirc
support, simple USB receiver, straightforward remote.  I think I paid
about $20 each (back in the 2005 timeframe).  Not sure if your
existing remotes will work with the receiver, though, if that's your
goal.
