As you can see, I've rebooted and they're all changed back.

I've since hunted down and changed the user mythbackend runs as from
mythtv to ct. That solved many of the problems.

I thought I could avoid this user BS by using mythtv as the user when I
installed. No such luck. mythtv is a 'reserved' user.

The single biggest pain in the ass with installs (and I've done several)
is wading through the user crap. Takes hours throwing blind commands at
mysql until everything works. Edit config.xml, edit mysql.txt, edit bla

Get a lot of this:

2010-07-20 19:37:01.338 Using configuration directory = /home/mythtv/.mythtv

2010-07-20 19:37:01.348 New DB connection, total: 1
2010-07-20 19:37:01.349 Unable to connect to database!
2010-07-20 19:37:01.349 Driver error was [1/2003]:
QMYSQL: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.0.103' (111)

I put the IP address in LocalHostName and the mythtv-setup starts as if
it was a brand new install... so that ain't right.

IP address is correct in -setup, config, and wherever else I can find to
put it.

Everything was lovely last night. Tonight the remote box I use to manage
mysql...
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'g41p2.local' (using
password: YES)
Off to throw some more blind commands at mysql until I can connect from
g41p2 again...

There's no surprises there anyway. If the solution were obvious, I'd a
found it googling...
