I have the old ones, I see 6.1, 6.1, 6.1, 6.1, 6.8, 4.8 GB with the same record rules and overrun.

There is a big discussion about this on their Blog, they changed to some newer firmware and changed from CBR 9.7Mb/s to VBR (I see ~5Mb/s to ~14Mb/s). Even from the first few frames everything looks much better now, I re-watched a few mins of last weeks to confirm that it's not wishful thinking :-)

I also watched a little on my PS3 and although this plays better now, no more startup glitches, the image quality was much worse than MythTV (VDPAU GT220 Advanced 2x), PS3 was washed out, showed some judders and some motion artefacts, usually PS3 is a tiny bit better than MythTV.

So for BBC HD VDPAU is the best, wow! Well based on a sample of one episode of Doctor Who, I guess they had to do something before the World Cup started or there would be baying BBC HD fans in the streets :->
