[mythtv-users] MythTV audio re-write

I'm looking for some clarification on the current state of MythTV-Audio
component.
Does it need some serious work or are peoples problems with audio an ALSA or
Pulse problem.

The reason I ask is I have seen many people raise issues with either
pre-buffering or video/audio sync issues, so it got me wondering , should
this be flagged as a hi-priority task for future work.

I understand that we may need some coders with Audio skills , so is it
possible we can "hire" some for some of the audio projects like ffmpeg or
lame etc.. to assist the MythTV to improve the audio work.
ie can we setup a "fund" to hire expert audio coders to review and
patch/re-write the myth-audio system?

If we can't attract outside help what can we do to improve the audio side of
MythTV.

Note I'm basing this on the current release not the soon to be released
version, as I am using the atrpms packages
