Ok, but what is the proper directory when you have your files stored on a usb-hard drive? Directory is now /var/lib/mythtv/music

Did you tell MythMusic where your music is? Go to MythMusic's General
Settings page and check the 'Directory to hold music' is set properly.
Then do the 'Scan for New Music'.
