I believe the difference between the two is the slingbox has a 3/32"
port and the tivo has an 1/8 port.  I think the transmitter I ordered
has 1/8" ports but do not know this as fact.  I thought I read that
the smarthome 8170 emitters can be used with the tranceiver I ordered
and I know that they can be used with a Tivo.

Guess I'll find out soon enough.
