We just don't seem to have anyone who's willing to do the work of implementing it properly (just a bunch of people who seem to think that work should be done /for/ them :). If someone implemented the solution and did it properly, the code would likely be added to MythTV. If the patch isn't done right, however, I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be added.

I haven't yet looked in the multirec code yet but it seems to me that multirec already has the necessary capability to achieve overlap recordings on analog tuners.

As I understand it multirec has a mechanism to restrict virtual tuner recordings only to channels in the mux that the physical tuner is receiving and the scheduler is aware of this and works within this limitation, very well generally.
Therefore I am wondering if multirec can be minimally modified to present two virtual tuners from one physical tuner while reporting a "mux" containing only the one channel that is currently tuned?

I may have misunderstood the way multirec works but it seems to me that a specially configured multirec virtual tuner would do the job with almost a configuration tweak rather than a big coding job.

This might also have another benefit for cards with pay tv cams and cards that can only decrypt one channel from a mux at a time, those guys would get overlap recording too.

Anyone know multirec well enough to know if this is possible?

Andre
