The "Unknown font: descriptfont" (which is preventing the OSD from
showing is because you have a broken OSD theme. Which one is this
happening with? Note that Retro-wide is (an old, not supported on
0.23-fixes) *UI* theme--not an OSD theme. The OSD theme almost
definitely has the letters "OSD" in its name. I'm guessing you have an
old, 3rd party OSD theme, and not one of the known-working themes from
the mythtv or myththemes packages. I'll bet if you change the *OSD*
Theme to BlackCurves-OSD, everything will work fine.
The "OSD, Error: A CC708 font is missing" is because you've changed one
or more of the "ATSC Caption Fonts" settings in mythfrontend settings
under TV Playback (and have it set to an invalid font).
