It is a backend only and it was the backend that I could not start. The
startup file /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf did not exist on my setup.

I resolved the issue in the end but I do not know why... My first attempt
was to install straight from your JYA trunk packages. I was pretty sure it
did not create the /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf

I eventually removed the JYA repositories from my config, removed all
mythtv/mythbuntu packages and then installed them again from the standard
mythbuntu repositories. After the install, I overlayed the JYA packages and
all was well.
