ROFL, I've explained the same thing many times, blue in the face from it :).
I think what's happening though is that a few, are taking the time to care enough to understand what one person is after and so are able to better consume the input. And for that, I appreciate your help. And of course, I've not always used the right terminology or when I tried to, my thread got wasted getting sidetracked because I mentioned something where someone figured I didn't have a clue so felt they had to correct me.

Simply hard to explain something like this because it's not the traditional or goes beyond simply needing a PVR, I don't know. Who cares what the semantics are, just glad a few people are getting it and even more interesting, that I'm not the only one who needs something like this.

No, never saw it or never noticed it enough to visit. Looks very interesting.
Quite interesting that it's got PVR functions along with the rest of the goodies.
Man you've gotta love Linux for everything that people have been able to pull together from it.

No way to argue it other than I'm using a very good scan converter which can play with the signals quite a lot, thus allowing me to adjust in many ways that output. Ultimately, it does end up being way better than a simple composite output. I'm sure some folks here know the extron line of hardware. We used Extron among other gear to build conference rooms.

> As above.  Some of us have to guess on the morsels of clues given us.

Morsels?? My god, have you seen my threads? Have you noticed how I try to reply to EVERY single question with as much detail as I possibly can. No morsels. If someone asks the right question, I'm more than happy to give the best answer I can. Folks seem to enjoy telling people that they are wrong much more than they enjoy asking for more details.

I'm using standard security cameras, none are IP. It would have cost me too much with everything else I did at the time.
The cameras are built into the walls. When one dies some day, that's when I might replace them with IP cams.

I'm not sure what you're on about here? I've said I'm ok with SD for viewing anywhere other than the living room.
That's how I've done it for the last 10 years. We've not once minded watching HD on SD tv's with the screen all messed up.
If we want to see it proper, we head for the living room. What is it you don't understand?

Everything is in my basement and that is how it's always been. I wasn't thinking any differently when using myth. Same idea.
We just tune into what ever channel we want and control the device downstairs using a remote for each, in each room.

> Depends where you are prepared to trade off.

I'm not after commercial grade, gonna sell it to everyone I know quality :). I've like something that ties all of my stuff together is all I'd like to achieve. The better it looks, the cooler it'll be but it's not an absolute must. I'd like to enjoy proper HD in the living room, the rest I can give and take as needed and depending on costs, etc.

You're not getting it. For example, on my projector, I have several resolutions I can change to. On a media player, same thing.
Sometimes, something is SD or it's just widescreen but hot HD, or it's HD but looks better in 720p vs 1080p etc.
I've often changed resolutions while we're watching something to get the better view I can get. Simple as that.

That's why I wanted to play with myth, it looked like it would allow me to do that and more importantly, I had just given up DTV so wanted a PVR for local channels then the rest of my gear.
