I use xfce4, and ususally i disable it in the xorg.conf
I check if screensaver is set with this command:
and you can disable it with these lines in xorg.conf:
Option "BlankTime" "0"
Option "StandbyTime" "0"
Option "SuspendTime" "0"
Option "OffTime" "0"
