[mythtv-users] Sluggish Video

I build a mythdora box using a dual XEON 2.8Ghz, 4GB RAM box with 15K RPM drives. The hardware isn't the most modern but it usually kicks a** running anything linux. However, with myth, the video is less than good, it's very sluggish for lack of better term.
Looking at the load on the server, it's not very high on average, does go high and I'm not quite sure why.
For example, at the moment, it's over 3.3. If you'll notice, pulseaudio is high, always seems to be as well.
Sure seems to be using up a lot of memory but I'm not sure if that's normal? Lot's of apps use up what ever it can, releasing as needed by the OS, then taking it up again.
Any ideas? What else should I be looking at for leads?
