[mythtv-users] Recordings failing without errors on PVR-150

....
When a recording fails, I just get this:

2010-09-30 13:30:05.309 TVRec(6): StartRecording(B515 A CRIMINAL PROCEDURE: INVESTIGATION)

No followup messages can be found--errors or otherwise. The affected SBE will continue to operate and record other programs without issue, but the program remains in the 'currently recording' list until I restart the myth BE process on the affected SBE.

This has happened at various times on all the SBEs, so it's not specific to particular hardware.

Any suggestions on where to look for a solution, or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

---Update: I was able to narrow down the cause for my problems to some bad interaction between MYthTV and XBMC, which I use as a FE on my Windows boxes (using the native mythtv capabilities--not the plugins). Simply put, MythTV doesn't seem to recognize when XBMC is using a tuner for LIVE TV, and so it tries to use that same tuner for the recording which causes the failure I noted above. The likelihood of encountering this problem is increased because MythTV also doesn't follow the 'Avoid conflicts between LIVE TV and recordings' switch when using XBMC as the FE--XBMC always gets the next available tuner.

The Windows MythTV FE works properly in both of these situations, but it suffers from some stability issues on my system, which is why I have been using XBMC.

So, there seems to be two distinct bugs when using XBMC as a FE:

1. MythTV doesn't respect the 'Avoid conflicts' switch when assigning XBMC a tuner

2. MythTV doesn't recognize that a tuner used by XBMC is unavailable for recordings.

I could submit these as bug reports, but I'm really not sure if they are caused by MythTV or XBMC. Any recommendations? Can anyone confirm these findings?

Jon
