I also have one of these as a secondary player. What attracted me to it
was that it has regular video-out, and was a cheap way to down-scale my HD
recordings for SD television sets. Most of the other players I looked at
when researching this one did not have SD, analog outputs.
The menu based UI is acceptable, but not spectacular. There is a
significant delay (over the network anyway) where the device seems to load
a thumbnail or preview, (even with previews disabled) before you can
select a file to play.
Playon support has gone back and forth between working and not working.
There is active support from Asus, with frequent firmware updates.
I generally use it exclusively over upnp, but have also used it with a usb
drive to take on vacation, and it worked very well for that.
