The PS3 remote is nice - its a tradition remote shape/size, solid build
quality, plenty of buttons and you can even pick them up in the larger
Tesco stores whilst you are getting your beer supply for the weekend :-)

Currently retails for less than £20, Amazon for £15.

The downside is its a bluetooth remote, so you will have to by a dongle
if you don't already have one.

You also have to compile the Bluez software as it needs a patch applying
to enable all the buttons to be mapped.  Its straight forward (patch
...; ./configure; make; make install) and works, but its not just a
one-line package install command - unless someone has already done this
for your particular distribution.
