Look for "for protocol in rc5 nec rc6 jvc sony" in /etc/init.d/lirc (aka http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mythbuntu-dev/lirc/ubuntu/annotate/head:/debian/lirc.init.d) and add 'rc5-sz' to that proto list, and the double-presses will go away. You're decoding IR both in-kernel and in userspace w/lircd.
