My best guess is the CableCo updated the firmware on your box and the
channel change commands have changed. This happened to me a few months
ago as well.

This is what I wrote back on the user list on June 16th which may also
solve your problem:

If you are on the Rogers cable network then some of you may have noticed
that SA4250s just got a firmware update which affects the channel change
function via firewire. SA3250s appear to be ok.

If you are using an external channel changer then I recommend
majoridiot's "mythchanger" at:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/majoridiot?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=mythchanger.10f.beta.tar

On the Rogers network I found the following to work reliably:
SA4250: mythchanger -g <guid> -f 4 -c <channel>
SA3250: mythchanger -g <guid> -f 2 -c <channel>

I have also updated the relevant scripts for stb-command at:
http://code.google.com/p/stb-command/

Christian
