MythTV requires a screensaver timeout of 2 minutes or more for proper
disabling. (You're welcome to keep using it the way you do, but by
changing the timeout to 2 minutes, instead of 1 minute, it would work
properly without the screensaving interruptions in playback.)

See http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-commits/2010-February/063352.html

Note, though, that xdg-screensaver was a no-go, since KDE and GNOME
don't properly support it. And, to make matters worse, /both/ KDE and
GNOME have bugs in their current versions that cause their own custom
solutions to fail in some circumstances. (Yes, as I'm sure you can
tell, I'm actually very upset that KDE and GNOME developers refuse to
see the benefit in a single solution designed to control any and all
screensavers on all systems--and, no, D-Bus is not that single solution.)
