[mythtv-users] Automatically pausing playback

I have a little home-grown application that I use to pop up caller id
information on my mythtv machine whenever a phone call comes into my
asterisk box. I'm basically broadcasting a UDP packet with the caller id
information from the asterisk machine and have a listener running on my
mythtv box. When it receives the packet it pops up a dialog showing who is
calling. Pretty simple. However, I would like to automatically pause the
mythtv playback when the caller id event arrives. Is there a simple way to
do that? I thought maybe I could fake an event with lirc and having it send
a Pause. However, after digging through the man pages of the lirc stuff it
wasn't as obvious as I thought. Any ideas on how to do this? Or is there
something easier that I've completely missed?
