In my opinion, no you're not being paranoid.  I'm constantly telling 
those that I deal with that, you're willing to give up so much for 
convenience.  They go on and say, "Yes, yes I am."

I have an Android phone, but I refuse to get a gmail account, just so I 
can get applications.  I'll find other means, but it is frustrating that 
everything leads back to Google when you want to do things with this phone.
