for matched aspect playback, its probably better to change the capture
setting to match the output resolution of the STB. Then you won't lose
any quality.
From the sound of it that is 576p (1024x768) or for a more modern box
720p. My penny is on the latter. If your capture device can do it set it
for 1280×720.
Transcode to any quality less if required.
