I had similar issues a while back (I think I even added a gdb trace to a 
ticket you created).  The problem seems to have gone away for me now.

I'm running 2 Hauppauge Nova-T PCI cards. What I think fixed it was to 
increase the tuning delay to 500ms for both cards.  I also disabled 
Active EIT scanning on one of the cards.  Interestingly, after making 
those changes, it locked up once more on me shortly afterwards, but 
hasn't again since.
