Slows down all channel changes, but allows you to use browse mode (where
the info about other programs is shown in the OSD on top of playing
video when you hit channel up/down, rather than actually changing
channels with channel up/down) to see what's available on other inputs.
Without it, browse mode shows you only what's available on your current
input and you use the Program Guide to see what's on all channels and
use it to change to a channel on another input. Or, you use NEXTCARD or
NEXTINPUT to switch to another card or input to browse or change to one
of its channels (similar to using the Input button on your TV to switch
from your satellite STB to your cable STB or your OTA tuner).
Note also that "Avoid conflicts..." didn't "fix" the "stick on a
multiplex" problem for you. That "problem" is a relic of the fact that
MythTV is designed to prioritize recordings over Live TV. There is a
workaround that allows you to re-prioritize and specify that Live TV is
more important to you, but I don't want to start another argument by
posting a link to the workaround. So, if you're stuck on a multiplex
because you're sharing a tuner with another Live TV user or recording,
use NEXTCARD or NEXTINPUT or the program guide (available through the
MENU) to access the other channels.
