[mythtv-users] Editing the royal wedding

1st off, please direct me to a different list if you feel this is too off-topic.

Recording the royal wedding for my mother-in-law with our MythTV
setup. Figure she doesn't need the 8hrs some stations will broadcast
but figured I'd make a highlights DVD.

Any open-source editing programs out there I can run on my Myth box?
or should I convert the whole shebang to, say, avi and try editing it
down on Windows Movie Maker on Vista?

I'm sure a few Mythers are caught in this same boat. :-)
