That was the issue - missing perl-DBD-mysql... installed ruby-DBD-mysql
just for good measure :)

YEAH!  Getting closer... I got two Asus tuner cards yesterday that use
the same cx88 chipset as my ati hdtv wonder, but they failed, and caused
the hdtv wonder to stop... so I have to return them. 

Already have an exact same hdtv wonder purchased from ebay coming -
hopefully that will work.
