OK, I have made progress... sort of.
It turns out that I WAS actually recording BBC HD and BBC One HD successfully, but the 'playback' was not working!
I got my clue from another thread about the new nVidia drivers and VDPAU. I had set my MythTV playback profile to VDPAU Slim (which has been working fine with Channel 4 HD and any other SD recording or DVD)...
...so I changed it back to what I used to use (before my new nVidia GT520) which is Video Playback Profile 'CPU+' and now the recording of yesterday from BBC HD plays fine.
However, this ofcourse makes my CPU go into overdrive because it means I am not using the nVidia Graphics VDPAU facility (I am on NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 280.13).
So, my Freesat TV card is fine, and maybe the recording settings or playback settings need tweaking.
Anyone got any other suggestions?
Oh yes, I did try 'VDPAU Normal' and 'VDPAU High Quality' to see if they worked but no.
