It depends on how you're handling playback. Right now, MythTV just
hands video off to VDPAU, and lets it handling everything through to the
display. XBMC decodes video in VDPAU, and then passes it back out to
the system, where it then gets passed back into the card using OpenGL
for compositing with the rest of their UI.
