I'm not sure what you mean by "repetitive inserts".  The problem is that
I signed up on this list using my work e-mail address so I can
read/reply during the day.  Everyone else I work with and ALL of our
clients/vendors use the same settings I use in Outlook... replies on
top, with no ">" symbols or side bars.  In order to receive/reply to
your messages during the day... and to make all of you happy, I have to
change my settings so that my replies look different than everyone
else's.  I've now done that, even though it will probably bother my
coworkers and our clients/vendors... and I don't care?

Unfortunately, there is no way in Outlook to turn on an inserted
character for individual e-mails.  It's all or nothing.
