I had tried playing with resolutions in the past and typically most
made the desktop appear off-center which was worse than the picture
quality.

Anyway, I have just managed to set the NVIDIA resolution to 1360x768
(the only resolution close to native) and playback does look sharper
with Temporal 2x (still jerky with advanced 2x).  Regular desktop
looks sharper too.

Not sure what you mean by getting a working 768p output?
