So I turned on my front end yesterday morning and it was asking me for the
backend DB. I was not happy, mostly because I was home sick with a horrible
sinus infection and upper respiratory infection. But I digress. I checked
out the BE and I performed a successful reboot. On boot up, the hard drive
spit out tons of errors. It was dead. So I decided, why not load up
MythBuntu 10.10. I downloaded the 32 bit ISO, and attempted to install it
on a new HDD in the old system. Specs:
Asus A7N8X-E Dlx
2500+ AMD
2GB RAM
250GB SATA OS
500 GB SATA storage
PVR-350
PVR-250
The OS installed fine. On first boot, the machine would always hang. I
managed to see some issues with IVTV. Something about TVEEPROM can not
autodetect card. So I took the 250 out, and was still getting this
message. I tried to reinstall with the 250 out, and still received the
message. Then I took out the 350 and reinstalled, and the box would never
complete it's first boot, but I can't be sure if I got the same message. No
matter how long I let it sit. I couldn't tell you if the message ever came
up again, because I couldn't hit escape on the keyboard and see the boot
messages. I gave up on the mythbuntu, and tried a full 10.10 install. That
finally booted. I then put the cards back in, and received the TVEEPROM
message again, but the machine booted. I'm having issues getting MythTV to
talk to the DB, that'll be a separate thread. In DMESG, I receive these
messages a LOT.
[11417.204343] tuner 2-0061: tuner type not set

[11417.226097] wm8775 2-001b: I2C: cannot write 102 to register R21
Over and over. MythTV sees the 250 card as a 150. So something is def
wrong. Here is the relevant output of lspci
01:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16
(CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
01:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2
Encoder (rev 01)
After grepping /var/log/messages, I can see that at one point, the card was
detected correctly:
Jan 6 19:30:56 mythbackend kernel: [ 9.346736] ivtv0: Autodetected
Hauppauge card (cx23416 based)
Jan 6 19:30:56 mythbackend kernel: [ 9.399224] tveeprom 2-0050:

Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250
Jan 6 19:30:56 mythbackend kernel: [ 10.612786] ivtv0: Initialized card:
Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250
Then, later it got all hosed up:
Jan 6 20:27:59 mythbackend kernel: [ 11.942067] ivtv0: Autodetected
Hauppauge card (cx23416 based)
Jan 6 20:27:59 mythbackend kernel: [ 11.995208] tveeprom 2-0050:
Encountered bad packet header [ff]. Corrupt or not a Hauppauge eeprom.
Jan 6 20:27:59 mythbackend kernel: [ 13.779319] ivtv0: Initialized card:
Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150
Any thoughts on how to correct this? Or is the card shot? Thanks for the
help!
Jim
