It does, but the developers can't guess what capture devices you have,
nor where in the world you live, nor what TV services you have access
to. You therefore have to do a certain amount of setup. Once you have
done so, it'll work fine.

You have been pointed at the docs, the first thing to do is run
mythbuntu-control-centre, then do launch mythtv-setup from the mysql
tab.
