I don't think so.   I have an Atom 330 with an ION chipset (9400m
based?) and it can handle h.264 HD playback just fine.   Playback with
vdpau uses maybe 10% of the CPU.  No issues with HD playback while
recording / encoding a DVD / commercial flagging, even all at once.
Hyperthreading is enabled, and a mythtv setup will benefit from this.
