Pleased to report that between upgrading my backend to Ubuntu 11.04 and
moving to Master this issue is resolved.

(Of course, I've just wasted an hour trying to get MythWeb working because a
known-and-supposedly-fixed bug in the Mythbuntu packages stuffed up the
Apache configuration, but that's the price one pays for living on the
bleeding edge - again. Ran out of patience waiting for 0.22, 0.23 and 0.24 -
time for another go on the Family Approval Factor Rollercoaster!)
