Hrm. A touch of bad news. I hooked up a serial blaster, also from
irblaster.info, booted a 2.6.39 kernel with lirc_serial built from
staging, and with lirc 0.9.0 userspace installed, everything works
exactly as expected. So it seems my memory isn't failing me yet,
that combo *did* work last time I tried it. :)

I'm presently at a loss as to why it wouldn't be working on your
end though. I presume you're positive that you don't have any
outdated lirc userspace bits lingering around that might actually
be running instead of the 0.9.0 bits?
