No.  PAE is a big mess and causes all sorts of funkiness in the kernel.  
It should be avoid if at all possible.

Still shouldn't use PAE.  If you're using MythTV, you're going to boot 
straight into mythfrontend.  I don't see how one choice of window 
manager or graphical login would make any difference over another, 
except GNOME is going to consume tons more memory for an interface 
you're never going to use.
