What nvidia drivers are you using?

Early 260.xx drivers were leaking badly.

I personally use 256.xx ; they work fine even with the latest nvidia 430GT card.

For your other VDPAU issue, try increasing the number of vdpau buffers
to a greater value than the default (17)
