It will send encrypted video to any software that wants it.  It will 
only send copy protected video to licensed software, the list of which 
at current only includes Vista MC and W7MC.  MythTV is currently capable 
of recording content that is encrypted, but marked as 'copy freely', or 
in other words the same content you can otherwise capture over firewire 
from a cable box.
